Logo Policy

Guidelines for correct use of the OpenPOWER Foundation logo by members and authorized partners.

The OpenPOWER Foundation logo is a registered trademark. Its use is restricted to authorized parties. This policy provides guidelines for members and partners who have been authorized to use the logo.

Logo Versions

The OpenPOWER Foundation logo is available in two versions:

OpenPOWER Foundation Logo — light version
OpenPOWER Foundation Logo — dark version
  • Light version (white/reversed): For use on dark backgrounds
  • Dark version (black): For use on light/white backgrounds

Who May Use the Logo

The OpenPOWER Foundation logo may be used by:

  • Current OpenPOWER Foundation members, in accordance with their membership agreement
  • Organizations that have received explicit written authorization from the OpenPOWER Foundation
  • OpenPOWER-certified products, as part of compliance certification

Correct Usage

Do

  • Use the logo in its original proportions — do not stretch or distort
  • Maintain adequate clear space around the logo (minimum equal to the height of the "O" in OpenPOWER)
  • Use the logo on backgrounds that provide sufficient contrast
  • Use the light version on dark backgrounds and the dark version on light backgrounds
  • Download logo files from the authorized source provided to members

Do Not

  • Alter the logo colors, proportions, or elements
  • Add effects such as shadows, outlines, or gradients to the logo
  • Place the logo on busy backgrounds that reduce legibility
  • Use the logo in a way that implies a closer relationship with the Foundation than you have
  • Combine the OpenPOWER logo with your own logo in a way that creates a new composite mark
  • Use the logo for products or services that have not been approved or certified

Member Logo Usage

OpenPOWER Foundation members may use the "Member of OpenPOWER Foundation" designation in accordance with their tier. Specific usage rights are outlined in the Membership Agreement. Contact info@openpowerfoundation.org to obtain authorized logo files and usage guidelines for your tier.

Requesting Logo Authorization

Non-member organizations wishing to use the OpenPOWER Foundation logo must submit a written request to info@openpowerfoundation.org describing the intended use. Authorization may be granted at the Foundation's discretion.

Violations

Unauthorized or improper use of the OpenPOWER Foundation logo is a violation of trademark law and this policy. The Foundation reserves the right to require immediate cessation of unauthorized use and to pursue legal remedies as appropriate.
